Native Americans preserved & stored them for future use. It will hold the Vitamin C value even when dried.
Effective for colds, diarrhea, coughs, disintery, scurvy (vitamin C deficiency) and consumption (disease known to deteriorate the body).
Native Peoples after making a tea would "Recycle" the berries by adding them to stews to add bulk and flavor.
May be eaten like raisins for a great snack.
Today people are serving them as a side dish flavored with butter & salt.
