In India it is used for Asthma, bronchitis, kidney stones, anorexia, gastralgia, enuresis and as an aphrodesiac.
Chinese herbalists use it to increase Qi in the lungs, spleen, nerves, stomach and intestines.
It is an appetite stimulant, an expectorant and has been used for confusion or to quiet nerves.

Some folks chew on Cardamon when at a party to attract a new lover, others combine it with one or more herbs and carry it in a small bag.
It is also put in bowls with Lavender or Roses to scent the air or in a cotton bag and rubbed on the pillows.
