Bayberry Root Bark

AKA: American Bayberry, Tallow Tree, Myrtle, Wax myrtle, Candle Tree, Waxberry

Historically used as an astringent & for fevers & dysentery.

Gargled for sore throats and as a mouth wash for sores, sore gums and infections. 

A weak tea is used to stimulate blood circulation and to reduce fevers. 

Early colonists used it for dysentery and diarrhea. 

Jethro Kloss recommended it for cleansing the system of narcotics and internal hemorrhages or excessive menstrual bleeding. 

Natives and colonists both used it for cleansing and disinfecting wounds.

Caution: Large doses may induce vomiting.
